Grading Insanity: Evaluative and Assessment Criteria in Video Biography: Personal Narrative
By Claudia Auger and Ashley Evans
In our study, we will create a rubric specific to the video biography assignment. We will select a variety of evaluators to examine the rubric and grade the sample assignment. The discrepancies and similarities in the assessments of the surveyed individuals will be recorded and analyzed. Our goal is to illuminate points of convolution in evaluative rubrics of video essays.
In the process of collecting data, we will film first impression reactions of the student’s project, ask participants the focus of their evaluation, and collect the graded rubric to calculate the final grade.
In presenting our results, we will incorporate the work of the following scholars: Ede, Lundsford, C. Selfe, Fleischer, Wright, Borton, Huot, D. Selfe, Kitalong, Moore, Takayoshi .
Our final product will appear on a Weebly website that will include video footage, PDF files of the rubric template and graded rubrics, a scholarly analysis, a literature review, and a concluding assessment with findings and acknowledgement of limitations.
